HENDERSON, Nev.Twenty-six nursing students will be honored at Nevada State College’s annual pinning ceremony Friday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at the Dragon Ridge Country Club – located at 552 S. Stephanie St., just off Horizon Ridge Parkway.

Pinning ceremonies are a tradition in the nursing field. Students will be pinned by a family member, friend or faculty member.

“This ceremony is the culmination of what these students have been working so hard to achieve and yet just the beginning of their careers as nurses,” said Dr. Fred Maryanski, president of Nevada State College “We’re proud to graduate another 26 qualified nurses into Southern Nevada’s workforce. With each graduating class NSC continues to serve the needs of the community.”

The pins students will receive are also a tradition at Nevada State College, as they were designed by an NSC graduate.

Upon graduation, students must pass their National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) in order to become licensed registered nurses. The NCLEX-RN exams are given by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

NSC’s official commencement ceremony for the entire college will take place Saturday, May 10, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Henderson Pavilion – located at 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, just off Paseo Verde Parkway.
